Hamburger Casserole

A hearty and comforting one-dish meal featuring ground beef, pasta, cheese, and savory seasonings baked to perfection.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 12 oz uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until beef is browned and cooked through, about 8–10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • Add garlic, tomato sauce, water, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir well and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Cook macaroni according to package directions until al dente. Drain and add to the meat mixture in the skillet. Stir to combine.
  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with 1½ cups of cheddar cheese and the Parmesan cheese on top.
  • Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until bubbly and cheese is melted and lightly golden.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve hot with a side salad or crusty bread for a complete meal.
