Preparation Steps
Whisk together flour and salt in a large bowl.
Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add ice water, mixing until dough just comes together.
Form dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface and use to line a pie plate.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use half butter and half shortening.
