Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss to coat evenly, then transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
In another bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, oats, and salt. Add the cold butter pieces and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbling.
Allow the crumble to cool for 10–15 minutes before serving. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or custard.
Notes
