Preparation Steps
In a large pot or Dutch oven, sauté the diced onion over medium heat until softened, about 5 minutes.
Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Stir in the cubed chicken breast and cook until lightly browned on all sides.
Pour in the chicken broth, and add the great northern beans, diced green chilies, cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper (if using).
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
Serve hot, topped with sour cream and any other desired toppings.
