taco seasoning recipe

Homemade taco seasoning that’s easy to make and packed full of bold, delicious spices. Perfect for tacos, chili, or any Tex-Mex dish!

  • 4 tablespoons chili powder (NM Red Chili Powder)
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper

Preparation Steps

  • In a small bowl, stir together all of the spices until well combined.
  • Store the seasoning mix in an airtight container or glass mason jar in your spice cabinet.

Notes

Use about 2 to 3 tablespoons of this seasoning mix per pound of ground beef for tacos. You can adjust the heat by modifying the cayenne and red pepper flakes.
