Swedish Meatball Recipe

A classic Swedish recipe for juicy and flavorful meatballs, served with creamy gravy and lingonberry sauce.

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 0.5 pound Ground pork
  • 0.25 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup Milk
  • 1 egg Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 0.5 cup Sour cream

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, salt, and pepper. Gently mix until just combined.
  • Roll the meat mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides.
  • Sprinkle flour over the meatballs and stir to coat.
  • Gradually whisk in beef broth until smooth.
  • Bring to a simmer, reduce heat, and cook for 15 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
  • Stir in sour cream and heat through.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or your favorite side dish. Lingonberry sauce is a classic pairing.
