  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cocoa powder, and red food coloring. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and roll each ball in powdered sugar. Place on prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set. Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
