Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, cream together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Stir in the mashed ripe bananas.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
If using, gently fold in the chopped nuts.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
This banana bread is delicious on its own, or served with a smear of butter. It also freezes well!
