peach iced tea recipe

Refreshing Southern-style sweet peach iced tea made with homemade peach syrup, perfect for hot summer days.
Prep : 10 Total : 25 minutes

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 5 cups water divided
  • 1 tea bag family size black tea bag
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup honey
  • 2 cups frozen peaches thawed and pureed or use fresh peeled and sliced peaches
  • 2 cups frozen peaches for serving
  • 4 cups water for brewing tea

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
  • Remove water from heat, add the family size black tea bag, and steep for 5 minutes.
  • Pour the brewed tea into a 2-quart pitcher and set aside.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine 0.75 cup sugar, 0.75 cup honey, and 1 cup water. Bring to a boil and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Add the pureed peaches to the saucepan and return to a low boil. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Pour the peach syrup through a mesh sieve into a small bowl, pressing on the peach pulp to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the pulp.
  • Add peach syrup to the brewed tea, tasting as you go until desired sweetness is reached. For 4 cups of tea, 1 to 2 cups of syrup yields a pleasant sweetness.
  • To serve, divide frozen peaches between 4 glasses, add ice, and pour the peach tea over the peaches and ice.
  • Store any unused peach syrup refrigerated for future use.

Notes

Try using fresh peaches for a more vibrant flavor. The peach syrup can also be used as a topping for desserts or mixed into cocktails.
