  • 1.5 lbs ground beef 80% lean
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 cup bread crumbs plain
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar for topping
  • 1 packet beef gravy mix prepared as per instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, bread crumbs, milk, eggs, ketchup, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  • Shape the mixture into a loaf and place in a baking dish. Spread brown sugar on top.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until fully cooked through.
  • Prepare the beef gravy according to packet instructions.
  • Remove meatloaf from oven, let it rest for 5 minutes, then slice and serve with prepared gravy.

Notes

For best results, let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing to ensure it holds its shape.
