Preparation Steps
Prepare the lemon cake mix according to the package instructions and bake in a 9x13 inch pan.
Once the cake is baked, let it cool slightly. Use a fork to poke holes all over the cake.
In a bowl, mix the lemon Jell-O with boiling water until completely dissolved. Add in cold water and stir.
Carefully pour the Jell-O mixture over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes.
Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours or until Jell-O is set.
Spread the whipped topping evenly over the top of the cake.
Garnish with lemon zest if desired, before serving.
Notes
Ensure the cake is fully cooled before adding whipped topping. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
