  • 1 box lemon cake mix Follow the box instructions to prepare.
  • 3 oz lemon Jell-O or 1 package
  • 1 cup boiling water For the Jell-O mix
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 8 oz whipped topping Thawed
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest Optional garnish

Preparation Steps

  • Prepare the lemon cake mix according to the package instructions and bake in a 9x13 inch pan.
  • Once the cake is baked, let it cool slightly. Use a fork to poke holes all over the cake.
  • In a bowl, mix the lemon Jell-O with boiling water until completely dissolved. Add in cold water and stir.
  • Carefully pour the Jell-O mixture over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes.
  • Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours or until Jell-O is set.
  • Spread the whipped topping evenly over the top of the cake.
  • Garnish with lemon zest if desired, before serving.

Notes

Ensure the cake is fully cooled before adding whipped topping. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
