Italian Stuffed Peppers

A classic Italian recipe featuring bell peppers stuffed with a savory rice and meat mixture.

  • 4 large bell peppers
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 0.5 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cut the tops off the peppers and remove the seeds.
  • Cook rice according to package directions.
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with onion.
  • Stir in cooked rice, tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Stuff the peppers with the meat and rice mixture.
  • Place the stuffed peppers in a baking dish and add a little water to the bottom of the dish.
  • Bake for 45 minutes, or until peppers are tender.
