Preparation Steps
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix.
Form the dough into a disc, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a 12-inch circle.
Transfer the dough to a 9-inch pie plate, trim the edges, and crimp the crust.
Pre-bake crust at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown, if needed for your recipe.
Notes
For a sweeter crust, add 1-2 tablespoons of sugar to the flour mixture.
