Homemade Oatmeal Bars with Applesauce

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter cut into small pieces, at room temperature
- 1 cup brown sugar packed
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1 1/2 cups applesauce unsweetened or lightly sweetened
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for the filling
Instructions
Heat the oven to 350°F and line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
Mix the butter, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and oats until the mixture forms a crumbly oat topping.
Press about two-thirds of the oat mixture firmly into the lined pan.
Spread the applesauce evenly over the base, then sprinkle the remaining oat mixture over the top.
Bake for 35 minutes, until the top is lightly golden and the filling is set.
Cool completely in the pan before lifting out and cutting into bars.
