Place the cube steak pieces in the bottom of the Crock-Pot.
In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, onion soup mix, water, and black pepper.
Pour the mixture over the cube steak evenly.
Cover and cook on low for 6 hours, until the steak is tender.
Serve warm with your choice of sides.
Notes
For a thicker sauce, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water and stir it into the sauce before serving. Let it cook for an additional 10-15 minutes.
