Crispy Chicken Wontons

Crispy, golden brown wontons filled with flavorful seasoned chicken. Perfect as an appetizer or snack!
Prep : 10 Total : 25 minutes

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 0.5 pound ground chicken
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced green onions
  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • water for sealing
  • vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • In a medium bowl, combine the ground chicken, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sliced green onions. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the chicken filling into the center of the wrapper.
  • Dip your finger in water and moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper. Fold the wrapper in half diagonally to form a triangle, pressing to seal the edges and remove any air pockets. You can also fold them into other desired shapes, like a purse shape, by bringing the corners together.
  • Repeat with the remaining filling and wonton wrappers.
  • Heat about 1-2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat to around 350°F (175°C).
  • Carefully add the wontons to the hot oil, a few at a time, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the fried wontons with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce or soy sauce.

Notes

These wontons are best served immediately after frying. For a healthier option, they can also be baked at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, though they won't be as crispy.
