  • 2.5 cups All-purpose flour plus more for dusting
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 cup Cold unsalted butter cut into cubes
  • 4 oz Cold cream cheese cut into cubes
  • 1 cup Buttermilk cold

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Cut in cold butter and cream cheese using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gently stir in cold buttermilk until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat into a ¾-inch thick rectangle. Cut into 8 biscuits using a biscuit cutter or knife.
  • Place biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Serve warm with butter or your favorite toppings.

Notes

For best results, use very cold butter, cream cheese, and buttermilk. Avoid overmixing the dough to keep the biscuits tender.
