  • 1.5 lbs Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts Cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 2 tbsp Butter Unsalted
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black Pepper

Preparation Steps

  • In a large pot or Dutch oven, bring the chicken broth to a boil.
  • Add the chicken pieces to the boiling broth. Reduce heat to a simmer, cover, and cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  • While the chicken is cooking, prepare the dumplings. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and pepper.
  • Cut in the butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gradually add the milk, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough into the simmering chicken broth, being careful not to overcrowd the pot.
  • Cover and cook for another 15-20 minutes, or until the dumplings are cooked through and fluffy.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For a thicker broth, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water and stir into the simmering broth during the last 5 minutes of cooking. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.
