Christmas cookie bars

Delicious and festive Christmas cookie bars perfect for the holiday season. Easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients
  

Cookie Base

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt

Christmas Sprinkles Topping

  • 0.5 cup Christmas sprinkles

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

  • In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  • Sprinkle the Christmas sprinkles evenly over the dough.

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the center is set.
  • Let the bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
