Chocolate Cherry Dump Cake

A rich and decadent dessert made by layering chocolate cake mix, cherry pie filling, and butter in a baking dish—no mixing required. Simply dump the ingredients and bake for an easy, crowd-pleasing treat.

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix 15.25 oz
  • 1 can cherry pie filling 21 oz
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted 1 stick
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving, optional

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Pour the cherry pie filling evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix evenly over the cherry filling.
  • Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix. Do not stir.
  • If desired, sprinkle vanilla extract over the top for added flavor.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling.
  • Allow to cool for 10–15 minutes before serving. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.
