A comforting and flavorful Chicken Mac and Cheese recipe that's perfect for a weeknight dinner. Tender chicken, creamy cheese sauce, and perfectly cooked pasta come together in this easy-to-make dish.

  • 1 lb Boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 lb Elbow macaroni
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 0.25 cup All-purpose flour
  • 3 cups Milk
  • 4 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add chicken and cook until cooked through. Season with salt and pepper.
  • In the same skillet, whisk in flour until smooth. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.
  • Reduce heat to low and stir in cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Stir in cooked macaroni and chicken. Pour into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  • Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, try using a combination of cheddar and Gruyere cheese. You can also add a sprinkle of breadcrumbs on top before baking for a crispy topping.
