Heat the oven to 400°F (204°C) and line a 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners.
Whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
Whisk the egg, milk, oil, and vanilla in a second bowl.
Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir just until combined; fold in the blueberries.
Divide the batter among the muffin cups.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then move the muffins to a rack.
Notes
Do not overmix after the flour is moistened; a few small lumps are fine.
