Instructions
Preparation Steps
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
Gently fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 375°F (190°C).
Using a spoon or small scoop, carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
Fry the fritters for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Remove the fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
Repeat with the remaining batter, maintaining oil temperature.
While still warm, dust the fritters generously with powdered sugar.
Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
For best results, use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. Serve immediately for maximum crispiness.
