Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Gently fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  • Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 375°F (190°C).
  • Using a spoon or small scoop, carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  • Fry the fritters for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove the fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  • Repeat with the remaining batter, maintaining oil temperature.
  • While still warm, dust the fritters generously with powdered sugar.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. Serve immediately for maximum crispiness.
