5 Layer Dip

A classic party appetizer featuring layers of refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, and salsa, served with tortilla chips.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz refried beans
  • 2 cups guacamole store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 0.25 cup sliced black olives optional
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions optional
  • tortilla chips for serving

Instructions
 

Preparation Steps

  • Spread the refried beans evenly in the bottom of a 9-inch square or round serving dish.
  • Layer the guacamole on top of the refried beans, spreading it evenly.
  • Spread the sour cream over the guacamole layer.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the sour cream.
  • Top with salsa, spreading it gently to cover the cheese layer.
  • Garnish with sliced black olives and chopped green onions, if using.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to meld.
  • Serve with tortilla chips for dipping.

Notes

For best results, use full-fat sour cream and freshly made guacamole. This dip can be made up to 24 hours in advance.
